Moira Fischman Wilkes is owner, director, and instructor of Hawaii Irish Dance. Moira was awarded her Irish dance teaching certification (TCRG) by An Comisiun le Rinci Gaelacha in 2013 and is an active member of the Irish Dance Teachers Association of North America, belonging to the Southern and Western US regions. Moira has taught all ages and levels of dance, from beginners to champions, toddlers to adults. She began teaching for the Drake School of Irish Dance upon passing her TCRG. The Drake School is one of most prestigious Irish Dance schools in the United States, with locations across 6 southern US states, Mexico, and China.
Moira began Irish dancing under the instruction of Sheila Butler Duffey ADCRG at the Butler School of Irish Dance at age 12, and continued her training at the Drake School of Irish Dance under the instruction of Karl Drake TCRG. Moira achieved competitive success at the Drake School hanging up her competitive shoes as an Open Champion, having competed at both the National and World level. She has been a featured dancer with world class Irish musicians, including Eileen Ivers, Lunasa, Cherish the Ladies, Natalie MacMaster, Cillian Vallely, Ryan McGiver, The Celts and more.
Moira graduated from the University of Florida with her bachelor of science in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences, specializing in Child and Youth Development. Moira met her husband Sean at Gaelic Roots, an Irish dance and music summer program, at Boston College in 1999. They were married in June 2016 and are looking forward to many happy years Irish dancing together.
